WHO WE ARE:

CCDC is a nonprofit long-term recovery group.  It is comprised of many different volunteer management professionals, emergency services officials, faith and community representatives, special needs groups (senior citizens, handicapped, and animal), and concerned citizens.

WHERE WE GOT OUR START:

CCDC was first CCDR: The name was changed in 2024 to better fit our group.  CCDR was formed after the devastation of Hurricane Floyd in September of 1999.  It dumped 15-20 inches of rain in parts of the state over a 12-hour period.  Hurricane Floyd was unusual because the rainfall exceeded the 500-year flood level.  Columbus County was severely affected, and something needed to be done.  Mr. Kip Godwin saw the need and stepped up and got many groups to come in and start meeting, strategizing, and putting boots on the ground.  The organization was approved by the NC Secretary of State as a 501c3 nonprofit.  We are currently under the umbrella of United Way.

OUR MISSION

The mission of CCDC is to identify the needs related to natural disasters, pandemics, and more and to respond to those needs (when safe) through the collaborative effort of all available resources.  We have added to that for the blue-sky days, which can affect anyone at any time, such as homelessness,
